Testa dei Marmi embodies the studio’s aspiration to showcase the sculptural heritage of natural resources by reclaiming marble waste through conscientious object design. 001TDM sculptures are anonymous and androgynous, offering a range of scenarios through the interplay of materiality and composition. Slightly larger than a human face, the heads are crafted by tuscan artisans into thick marble, giving it a full-bodied presence. Each piece is selected for its unique veining and color from among 13 types of marble collected over the past three years on construction sites and Italian quarries. Inspired by myths and land art, the marble heads are displayed on a series of pedestals that inject figurative and spatial intervention at different scales. The reflective surface of polished stainless steel creates a sense of disappearance and levitation of the marble pieces. This collection, deeply personal to our approach, stands as a monument, a memory of our architectural projects, and a reflection of the origins of using these marbles and their social dimension.
