Like a Tree Breathing Through its Spectacles - stool

Mimicking the process behind Alvar Aalto’s iconic stool created in 1933, these bent laminated stools designed by Isabel Rower were constructed through molding many layers of birch veneer to create curves in the wood. The material friction of colored pencil drawings and sculptural silhouettes disrupt Alto’s clean modernism. They are part of the series ‘Like a Tree Breathing Through its Spectacles.’
