Another Fountain

Swedish Girls’ ‘Another Fountain’ is a contemporary investigation of the relationship between cultures and their public spaces, as well as a playful homage to the history of fountains. Based in Stockholm, the duo of Swedish Girls looks to recall a fountain’s original purpose, especially during the Renaissance period, when fountains were meant to inspire play, theater, music, and offer respite within the garden. The installation––composed of intricately draped stainless-steel rods, Swedish Girls' trademark material language, ––playfully nods to the fountain’s allegory and lore within international culture, landscape architecture, and public spaces all over the world. It is an open invitation for guests and viewers to explore, gather, climb atop, and connect.
