Design studio
Justyna Bugajczyk is a Polish-born artist based in Los Angeles, who creates under the pseudonym UKWIAŁ.
She holds a BFA in Printmaking and earned her Master of Arts in Photography from the renowned Łódź Film School in 2018.
For a few years, Justyna worked as a set designer, a practice that deeply informs her approach to material and space. During that time she nurtured her passion for ceramics, discovering a unique perspective on clay as both structure and surface.
Her current work explores the tactile and sculptural possibilities of clay, creating objects that blur the line between art and function. Many of her pieces are finished with delicate glazes or flocking, adding soft, velvety surfaces that heighten both visual and sensory experience. Through this process, she invites viewers to slow down and engage with texture, color, and form, revealing the intimate dialogue between earth, touch, and fire.
