Kalon
Design studio
Kalon is a Los Angeles–based design studio founded in 2007 by Michaele Simmering and
Johannes Pauwen. Situated at the intersection of material research, craft, and contemporary design, Kalon’s work explores how furniture can embody cultural, ecological, and ethical values over time.
Drawing on American furniture traditions and modernist principles, the studio develops elemental forms through an intensive engagement with natural materials and regional production. Working with small teams of highly skilled craftspeople, Kalon balances traditional making with precision manufacturing to create objects conceived for longevity—designed to endure in use, relevance, and meaning.
