Diego Faivre
Design studio
Diego Faivre is a French-born, Dutch-educated designer and artist based in Melbourne, working at the intersection of furniture, sculpture, performance, and material experimentation. His practice originated from his experience as a factory worker, where time, labour, and precision shaped his understanding of value — an approach that later evolved into Minute Manufacturing, a system in which the time spent making defines the worth of each piece and the production process remains visible and accessible.
Working primarily with air-drying clay applied to reclaimed materials, Faivre transforms discarded objects into colourful, soft ceramic-like forms that merge craft with improvisation. Since relocating to Australia, his work has expanded into larger sculptural installations and site-specific environments, often built live in front of audiences.
Positioned between design and art, his practice explores care, speed, humour, and community-driven creation. Faivre creates functional objects that feel like characters and immersive spaces that blur the boundaries between home, workshop, and stage — always guided by material curiosity, intuitive colour, and a joyful, human approach.
